I met Viola in 2013 when I stayed with Sally Brooks and Bud Higginbotham who made the contact through Jessica Nielsen. I didn't know whom to expect but an older lady and stunned when she adressed me in my language "Guten Tag, mein Herr". Jessica and I spent the whole afternoon studying the papers and photos she had collected all over the years. Now and then I looked over and saw her watching us with a fine smile on her face. I was very impressed by all she knew and could remember and I'm sure I'll never forget her.

Thank you Joan, Gerry and Barb for sharing the most lovely of Mothers with me.....my life has been so enriched because of her...and I am a better person because of her...she taught me patience, diligence...to smile even if you are hurting and kindness of word....she is my inspiration....when she would fall or something of that nature...she would say, "oh, why don't they just shoot me"...and I would tell her because her work wasn't finished on earth yet....more people had to know of the goodness of her.....she loved you all greatly and I am sure you realize this....to see her radiate when you would enter the room, play scrabble with her, or just come into the room with a "hello Mom'....warmed my heart. and your children and grandchildren....amazing kind, caring individuals who loved to come to see their grandmother.....my list of blessings go on and on.....suffice it to say, that your Mother was the first person I did care giving for once back in NY....and she impacted my life powerfully.....she was my German teacher, my source of joy and laughter.....and even though I know she is well and happy in heaven with other family she has not seen in many years.....I miss her as you must....and I know that this will only grow stronger...I will miss you all also...it was a blessing to come to know the Bricks family.......

I will miss so much about my friend...she was sunshine on the worst of days....never ever complained....so ready with a laugh or smile.....and Scrabble or to look through her scrapbooks and photo albums remembering those who had gone before. The last words she spoke to me when I was putting her to bed Friday before her stroke on Sunday...were...
NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP....I PRAY THE LORD MY SOUL TO KEEP....IF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKE, DON'T LET IT BE FROM A BELLY ACHE.....I LOVE YOU MRS BRICKS.....

wow... I did not know Mrs. Bricks, but I take my hat off to a life well lived. Thank you for sharing her story, what an inspiration I have drawn from it. Souls like Mrs. Bricks continue to give even after leaving this world. I only hope I am bless to meet her in the next world. God Bless all of you and may God grant you the sense of peace and understanding needed to go through this very difficult loss to your family. I am forever in debt for this enlightening of how life should be lived, because of this life's story I will always remember a lady I never was fortunate enough to meet...
