Obituary of Matthew W. Wolcott
Cohocton – Matthew W. Wolcott, 59 years of age, passed away Monday May 9,2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Matt was born December 12, 1962 in Dansville the son of Roger “Bud” and Linda (Lang) Wolcott. He grew up in Cohocton and resided most all of his life in the Cohocton area. He was a 1981 graduate of Cohocton Central School and subsequent to high school he served his country in the United States Air Force. During his tenure in the Air Force he was stationed in California and Germany. Matt worked at a few different companies but most recently he was employed at the Gunlocke Company in Wayland. He was a member of the NCA Sports Club and the Wayland Rod-n-Gun Club. Matt loved fireworks; enjoyed hunting; riding go karts and spending time outdoors. He was also a NASCAR fan and traveled to see races at the Poconos, Watkins Glen, North Carolina and Daytona. Matt was pre-deceased by his parents, Roger “Bud” and Linda Wolcott; and two brothers in law, Kenny Rumble and Michael Gordon. He is survived by his siblings, Cindy Rumble of Bergen, Jon Wolcott of Cohocton, Lois Gordon of Avoca, Anne (Tim) Smith of Cohocton, Kenny Wolcott (April Briggs) of Painted Post and Lynn (Dale) Leslie of WA; his aunts and uncle, Maureen Wolcott of Cohocton and Norb (Bev) Lang of Springwater; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Matt’s family and friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 11am at Mapleview Cemetery in Cohocton. A celebration will immediately follow. Memorial contributions in memory of Matthew W. Wolcott may be made to the NCA Sports Club, County Road 36, Atlanta, NY 14808 or the Wayland Rod-n- Gun Club, 2222 Dieter Rd., Wayland, NY 14572.
