Obituary of Marianna Vogt

Dansville – Marianna Vogt, 88, passed away Wednesday August 19th at St. John’s home in Rochester. Marianna was born March 15th, 1927 in Dansville, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Hemmer) Didas. She grew up in Groveland and graduated from Groveland Central School in 1944. Marianna also attended Rochester Business Institute and briefly worked at Kodak Park. On September 4th, 1948, Marianna and Justin “Juddy” were married at Holy Name Church in Groveland. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage prior to Juddy, the love of her life, passing away in March of 2015. Upon their marriage, Jud and Marianna moved to Dansville and resided there until their move to St. John’s Meadows in Rochester, in March of 2011, to be closer to their family. Marianna was completely dedicated to her family. Her hobbies were many. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, knitting and gardening. She was a past president of the Rosary Society at St. Patrick’s Church in Dansville, the secretary of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, a volunteer in the office at St. Mary’s School, and long-time member of St. Mary’s Church. She volunteered with Juddy for many years delivering Meals on Wheels. She was a wonderful home-maker, sharing her baked goods with many neighbors and friends over the years. Marianna was pre-deceased by her parents, Albert and Louise Didas; and her husband Justin Vogt. She is survived by her children, James (Ann) Vogt of Clermont, Fl, Julie (Joe) Morrissey of Pittsford, Joe (Sherry) Vogt of Sahuarita, AZ, Joanne (Michael) Kelly of Tully, NY, Mary Jeanne (Keith) Lundy of Spencerport, and Annette (Mike) Battaglia of Fairport; 12 beautiful grandchildren; 2 great-grand children; her sister Vesta Corcoran of Chili; her brother-in-law Father Otto Vogt of Rochester, and sister-in-law Lois Ann Vogt of Webster. Marianna’s family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00pm – 7:00 pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her Friday at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Committal prayers and internment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions in Marianna J.
