Obituary of Lydia A, Puleo

Wayland – Lydia A. Puleo, 64 years of age, passed away Tuesday evening, July 12, 2022 at her home in Wayland. Lydia was born August 5, 1957 in Hawaii, the daughter of Herman “Dutch” and Mary Jane (Silsbee) Faughnan. She grew up in the Hornell / Alfred areas. She resided on Long Island and New York City for 20 years prior to moving to Wayland in 2006. Lydia and Andrew Puleo were married April 16, 1996 and together have celebrated over 26 years of marriage. “Lydia and Andrew met in 1989 and sparks flew instantly! Oh boy what a fire they lit and the flame continues to burn in Andrew’s heart.” Lydia worked for Bell Atlantic and later Verizon for many years. She was a homemaker that enjoyed her family, along with cooking, baking, camping, nature and spending time on the beach. Lydia was pre-deceased by her father, Herman “Dutch” Faughnan; her step-father, Doug Burdick; her father and mother in law, Angelo and Anna Puleo; her brother, John Faughnan; and a sister, Margery Day. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Puleo of Wayland; her daughter Ann (Hector) Alejo of CA; her mother, Mary Jane Burdick of Clifton Park; her sisters, Beth (Mark) Lay of Springville, NY, Dawn (Jessa Miller) Burdick of Alfred Station, NY, Gretchen Burdick of Clifton Park, NY, and Brenda Faughnan-Shoemaker of Williamsport, PA; four brothers, Alan (Theresa) Burdick of Lake Grove, NY, Bill Burdick of Liege, Belgium, Brian Faughnan of Williamsport, PA, and Brandon Faughnan of Texas; a sister-in-law Yvonne Faughnan of Alfred Station, NY; her brother-in-law, Warren Day of LA; Andrew’s siblings, Daniel Puleo of GA, Thomas Puleo of NY, Angela Hochreiter of NJ, Michael Puleo of NY; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved Schitzu, “Fuji.” Lydia’s family and friends called Friday July 15, 2022 from 6-8pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Lydia Saturday July 16, 2022 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church, Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hornell.
