Obituary of Richard J. Richardson

Wayland – Wellsville - Richard J. Richardson, 64 years of age, passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at his home. Rich just recently moved to the Wellsville IRA from the Wayland IRA. Rich was born May 22, 1958 in Rochester the son of Herb and Anna (Griffin) Richardson. He attended Special Education classes in Rochester and at one time received employment services at the Monroe Developmental Center. Rich has resided in Rochester, Hornell and in 2013 he moved to Wayland. Just recently he moved to Wellsville. Rich was a very friendly, caring, well-mannered and polite man. He was always willing to help others. Rich has been employed at The ARC of Steuben’s Industrial Operations since 1982. Rich enjoys work and wanted to be productive. Rich’s hobbies were many! He enjoyed bowling, (including one perfect game), socializing, being out and about in the community, completing word search puzzles, writing in a journal, using a typewriter, fishing and swimming. Rich loved watching wrestling, bowling, basketball and football on television. His favorite tv shows were Bonanza and Happy Days. The Buffalo Bills were his favorite football team. Travelling was a love of his as well. He went to Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and Hawaii. Rich loved visiting with his family and making friends and will be dearly missed by all. Rich is pre-deceased by his parents, Herb and Anna Richardson; his aunt, Luella Barker; his siblings, Bob Richardson, Nellie Freeborn, Harold Freeborn and Harry Freeborn. He is survived by and close to his cousins, Amy Wilson (Roger Cady), Wendy Wheaton-Wood, Daniel (Christina) Hutchins, Julie Wheaton, Bill Wheaton Duane (Donna) Cook, Randy (Darlene) Brewer; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rich’s family and friends may call Saturday July 23, 2022 from 9-11am at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Rich’s funeral service will be at 11am at the funeral home, followed by interment at Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
