Bloomfield / NYC – Frederick H. Wisman, 86 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, February 18, 2023 at the House of John in Clifton Springs.

Fred was born June 2, 1936 in the Bronx, NY the son of Helen Farrell. He grew up in NYC and remained a resident of that area until just recently when he moved to the home of his daughter and son in law Michele and Bill Smith in Bloomfield. Fred served his country in the United States Marine Corps from December 28, 1954 until his honorable discharge December 19, 1957.

Fred and Virginia Clark were married May 11, 1963 and together celebrated over 58 years of marriage prior to Virginia passing away May 25, 2022.

His work career was mostly in law enforcement as he was a New York City Police Officer and also worked private security. Fred loved animals and music. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, listening to Big Band, Old Country and Old Pop music.

Fred was pre-deceased by his wife, Virginia Wisman. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Wisman (Bob) of CT and Michele (Bill) Smith of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Amanda Tamayo (Liz) of Chicago and Timothy Allen (Julie) of Corning; his sister, June Rodriguez of Wurtsboro, NY; his sister in law Ann (Jack) Holland of Wellsville, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Fred’s family and friends are invited to his graveside service on Friday March 3, 2023 at 3pm at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.

Wisman may be made to the East Bloomfield Fire Department, 105 Main St., Bloomfield, NY 14469 or to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Directly after the services at Bath, there will be a celebration from 3:30-6:00pm at the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post #173, 14 W. William St., Bath, NY 14810.
