Obituary of Florence W. Haydon

Wayland – Florence W. Haydon of Wayland, NY passed away peacefully in the Vincent House on March 27th at age 86. “Flo” was born on November 7th, 1936 in Boston to Francis and Magdalene (Sidlauskas)Westfield. After graduating from The State Teacher’s College at Boston, Florence used her creativity and unique teaching style to influence her children, the neighborhood kids, and CCD classes at Sacred Heart Church in “Perk”. She loved to laugh and enjoyed the company of others. A loud house with many boisterous children always made her happy. Ever selfless, Florence sought to comfort others and sacrificed her time for friends and family. Next only to her family and friends was her love for the Boston Red Sox, which spanned her lifetime. This included attending games at Fenway Park in her teens and watching every Sox game on MLB for the past several seasons, all while analyzing each game over the phone with her two devoted sisters. Florence was predeceased by her parents, husband Ronald Haydon, her sister in law Janice Pollack, and nephew Matthew Westfield. She is survived by her six younger siblings Frank (Emily) Westfield, Madeline (Drake) Dierkhising, John (Robin) Westfield, Charles (Susan) Westfield, Mary Sulls, and Joseph (Margaret) Westfield, four children, Edward, Rebecca, Nancy, and Joseph Haydon, daughter-in-law Melissa (Mecham) Haydon, and two grandsons, Bryce and Chase, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A mass will be said in her name at Sacred Heart Church of the Holy Family in Perkinsville, NY on a future date. In lieu of flowers, anyone interested can donate to the Vincent House, 310 Second Avenue, Wayland, NY 14572 or online at https://www.vincenthouseny.org/
