My Dad was a strong, valiant man his entire life. He taught me how to manage my work and family life. He accepted his failing health with grace and dignity, even when his body had been through more than enough. We will always love and miss you Dad.

Don’s daughter, Lynda, has been my best friend for almost 40 years. One of the things we share in common is that we are both from the Southern Tier. Don and Norma felt like family to me because of our connection to Lynda and being Southern Tier people. They worked hard, took care of their families, loved deeply and lived simply. Many years ago, I saw the picture on the left below, of Don and Norma in the early days of their lifelong love for each other, on Lynda’s fireplace mantle. It captured my heart, as their love for each other was so clear in the way they were looking at each other in the photo. Many, many years later, and not so long ago, I saw the photo on the right of them and immediately recognized that despite the years that had passed, they were still looking at each other with the same love and commitment on their faces. Norma on the left, Don on the right - nothing had changed but the years that had passed. I wanted this beautiful reflection of their love that spanned over 70 yrs to be captured as I saw it, so combined the photos into one as a testament to their love for each other, and in turn, their love for their family. My sympathies to their family, and especially to Norma who has lost the love of her life. Life is beautiful, hard and takes great strength - they are a shining example for all of us.

Thank you so much BFF. My Mom loves you to pieces and asks about you frequently. She compared our friendship to her and her BFF Jean, who remain best friends to this day since their youth. This is a lovely tribute to Mom and Dad's love for each other, and their family, through the ups and downs and difficult times. Being married for 71 years is a statement in itself. Thank you for your kind words. Love you always, Lynda

Thank you so much to both you and Johnny. Dad always loved telling you his stories while he had you as a captive audience, while Mom enjoyed cooking for your appreciative appetite. Dad enjoyed having a man around to discuss military topics because he would never share any of that with us girls, just one of his ways of protecting us.
