Obituary of Robert E. Derrenbacher

Wayland – Robert E. Derrenbacher, 66 years of age, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023. Bob was born August 14, 1956 in Dansville the son of Emerick and Ruth (Henry) Derrenbacher. He grew up in Dansville and graduated from Dansville Central School. Bob moved to Wayland in the 1970’s and has remained a resident of that area ever since. Bob and Gail Williams married on July 31, 1982 at their home in Wayland and have celebrated over 41 years together. Bob’s employment included 25 years as a corrections officer. The majority of his time was at Groveland, having retired a few years ago. His hobbies included crossword puzzles and Sudoku; attending sporting events especially the Buffalo Bills games; doing yard work and spending time outside; his 2002 Mustang; and his undeniable sense of humor. He was a jokester that could make Gail roll her eyes often! Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, Emerick and Ruth Derrenbacher; his sister and brother in law, Dale and Paul Jester; his sister in law Kim Cavallaro; and his brother in law Paul Williams. He is survived by his wife, Gail Derrenbacher of Wayland; his son and his wife, Zachary and Andrea Derrenbacher of GA; his grandson, Maximus Koproski; his siblings, Kay (Gayle) VanDurme of KS, Joanne (Mike) Quinn of Dansville and Chris Cavallaro of Rochester; his brother in law and his wife, Steve and Karen Williams of Dansville; along with several nieces and nephews. Bob’s family and friends may call Friday August 11, 2023 from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will take place after calling hours on Friday at 7pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Robert E. Derrenbacher may be made to the Springwater Wayland EMS Ambulance Service, 7 South Lackawanna St., Wayland, NY 14572.
