Obituary of Bernard T. Ryan

Bernard Ryan passed away suddenly on June 8, 2023 in Church Hill, TN at 52 years of age; 1 week after the passing of his mother Doryce Ryan. Bernie was born on November 15, 1970 to Doryce and Theodore Ryan Sr. in Dansville, NY. He grew up in Wayland, NY and was active and quite talented in several sports in the Wayland area during his youth. He met his wife Candi in high school; they later reacquainted in 2009 and married in 2015; They resided in Bloomfield, NY until December of 2018. Throughout his life Bernie was an extremely hard worker. He had a passion for cooking and worked as a chef for several years. Later, he decided to make a change and moved into the construction business. He worked with other construction companies and builders for a few years before opening his own business. He operated BR Ventures for many years, framing beautiful homes in the Rochester area. Bernie took pride in all of his work and seemed to excel with ease in anything he tried. He loved Nascar and attended many races over the years. He also enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife and friends. He would make friends wherever they went. He continued to cook fabulous meals for friends and family when on camping/racing trips and vacations and he always enjoyed hosting holiday meals for everyone at their home. Bernie is survived by his wife Candi, son Terry (Mandy) Mathews, step-children Jordan (Bekky) Boberg, Caitlin (Jesse) Smith-Toates. Grandchildren Tanner and Tucker Mathews, Odin Boberg, Emma, Ava and Olivia Toates. Siblings Audrey-Anne (Kevin) Goddard, Theodore (Ted) Ryan Jr, Theresa Ryan (Ed Eubanks), Kevin (Alison) Ryan and sister-in-law Cindy (Sandy) Guerrero. Nieces and nephews John (Carrie) Goddard, Megan (Neil) Wing, Brittany, Jack and Erika Ryan, Chelsea (Alec) Andrea. Also their dog Niko who was like their child. Many other dear friends and relatives. Special thanks to Bernie’s best friends, Phil Kappesser of TN and Russell Curtis both of Church Hill, TN for all your help and care!
