Obituary of Willis D. LaPlant

Atlanta – Willis “Skip” D. LaPlant, 86 years of age, passed away Saturday morning, September 2, 2023 at his home in Atlanta, NY. Willis was born May 25, 1937 in Rochester the son of Willis E. and Ruth F. (McIntyre) LaPlant. He grew up in and around the Rochester area and in 1996 moved to the Naples area for many years. Willis and his family moved to Atlanta a few years ago. Willis held many jobs throughout his life. He worked with his mother at a furniture store; an antique store; he owned and operated a gas station and bike shop; worked in a lab at Nature’s Discovery in Rochester; and probably his favorite was at Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington. When done working at the track he loved betting and watching the horses. Willis enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years; playing horseshoes; yard sales and flea markets where he could wheel and deal and he mostly enjoyed being there for his family. Willis was pre-deceased by his parents Willis E. and Ruth F. LaPlant; early wife Rose (Wroblewski) LaPlant; his siblings, Robert, Tina, Charles, Edward and Norman LaPlant, Judith Frieda and Alice Buckman. He is survived by his wife, Agnes “Aggie” LaPlant of Atlanta; his children, Michael LaPlant of Wayland, Suzette McLoud of GA, Corrine (Zia) Zaman of Long Island, Karon Ramos of East Rochester, Sharon Shanley of spencerport, Willis (Monique) LaPlant of Atlanta, NY, Angel Laplant of Naples, Johnathan LaPlant of Atlanta, NY and Thomas (Terri) Obrecht of Wayland; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great- great grandchild; his sister Marianne Flammia of Shortsville; along with many many nieces and nephews Willis’s family and friends may call Thursday September 07, 2023 from 4-6pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572. His funeral service will take place after calling hours at 6:30pm on Thursday.
