Obituary of Barbara B. Carney

Springwater, NY – Barbara Ann (Brock) Carney, 90 years of age, passed away early Friday morning, September 8, 2023 at her home. Barb was born April 23, 1933 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Alfred E. and Cecilia (Normand) Brock. She was raised in Springwater, NY by her Aunt and Uncle Alma (Minor) and James Brock. She remained a lifelong resident and was proud to call Springwater, NY her home. Barb was a graduate of Wayland Central School in 1951. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and on March 17, 1956 she married Gerald Harold “Jerry” Carney. Together they have celebrated over 67 years of marriage! Barb worked at Stromberg-Carlson for 10 years and CF Cannon for 15 years. Her hobbies were many. She enjoyed shooting trap at the gun club; hunting deer; camping; collecting jewelry; playing cards; collecting stamps; and overall just a collector of “nice stuff!” Barb was a member of the Springwater American Legion, the Springwater Rod-n- Gun Club and a life member of the NRA. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Cecilia Brock; her aunt and uncle, Alma (Minor) and James Brock; her daughter Darcy A. Carney (and lifelong partner, Boup Reynolds); and her siblings, Betty Ong, June Figencher, Alfred Brock, Shirley Mancinilli, James Brock, Carole Trinchirini, Sharon Brock, Anita Drum, Richard Brock and Diane Benge. She is survived by her husband Gerald H. “Jerry” Carney of Springwater; her daughters, Terry Lee Carney Kuznicki of Springwater and Kelly Colleen Carney (Gary) Bauer of Wayland; her grandchildren, Brittney Ann (Chris) Rizzieri of Cohocton, Cortney Marie Bauer (Adam) Landis of Wayland and Kalee Sue (Nick) Warner of Springwater; her great grandchildren, Gabriella Ann “Cabela’s” Makayla Marie and Alexandra Grace Rizzieri and Lillian Irene and Wilson Rex “that boy” Warner; her brothers, George (Mary) Brock of Rochester and Gary “Bucky” (Sandie) Brock of FL; along with many nieces and nephews. Barb’s family and friends may call Monday September 11, 2023 from 11am – 1pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572. Barb’s funeral service will be private and at the convenience of her family. Interment and committal prayers will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Springwater.
