Obituary of Corine Dais

Wayland – Corine Dais, 89 years of age, passed away Monday afternoon November 10, 2014 at the Steuben County Healthcare Facility. Corine was born January 15, 1925 in Columbus, SC the daughter of Andrew and Ada Philips. Corine grew up in Florida and moved to Wayland in the early 1950’s and remained a resident of Wayland until her move to Bath a short time ago. Corine and James Dais were married August 26, 1953 and together they celebrated over 47 years of marriage prior to James passing away in January of 2001. Corine then married Donald MacLane and he passed away in December of 2012. Her employment career was mostly at the Gunlocke Company in Wayland. Throughout her life, Corine enjoyed to sew, however her greatest joy was attending church. She loved to go to church and help out with her church in any way she could. Corine was pre-deceased by her parents, Andrew and Ada Philips; her first husband James Dais; and her second husband Donald MacLane; along with her siblings, Catherine and Iylar. She is survived by her children, Leroy Brown Jr. of MA, Charles (Louise) Brown of AL; Sylvester Brown (Judith Aden) of CO, Thomas Brown of LA, Roberta Philips of Albany, James Dais Jr. of Dansville, Rodney Dais of Rochester, Willie Dais of Buffalo and Michael Dais of Bath; 19 grandchildren; along with many great grandchildren. Corine’s family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday at 11:00am at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572. Corine’s son the Reverend Charles Brown will officiate. Committal prayers and internment will take place immediately following at the Village Cemetery in Wayland.
