Obituary of Roderic F. Lindsey

Cohocton – Roderic F. Lindsey, 88 years of age, passed away Wednesday May 15, 2024 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Roderic was born October 8, 1935 in Wayland the son of Forrest and Dorothea (Schrader) Lindsey. He was a member of the first graduating class at the "new" Wayland Central School in 1953. Roderic and Mary Lou Mehlenbacher were married September 24, 1960 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Cohocton and have celebrated over 63 years of marriage. Roderic remained a resident of the Cohocton area his entire life. Earlier in life he worked at Fairbrother Gas Station and then Lindsey Atlantic Station. Roderic was an accomplished electrician working at Pleasant Valley Taylor Wine and then at the Expressway Auto Auction in Dansville His hobbies were many. He collected old toys and beer steins; he enjoyed NASCAR, especially Bill and Chase Elliott; and working outside keeping up his property. He loved to fish – especially on Loon Lake where they had a cottage that dated back to the early 1920’s. Roderic was pre-deceased by his parents, Forrest and Dorothea Lindsey; his brother Dale Lindsey; sister in law Beth Lindsey and brother in law Bill Mehlenbacher; his brothers and sisters in law, Donald and Claire Mehlenbacher, Richard and Katherine Mehlenbacher, Walter and Peggy Mehlenbacher, John and Betty Mehlenbacher, Marian Mehlenbacher, Clair Mehlenbacher, Harold Mehlenbacher and infant Gwendolyn Mehlenbacher. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Lindsey of Cohocton; his brothers, Ronald Lindsey (Dawn) of Cohocton and Bruce Lindsey of Florida; his brother in law, Jim Mehlenbacher, sister in law Joan (Joseph) Schwartz, and sister in law, Dorothy Pelham; along with many nieces and nephews. Roderic’s family and friends are invited to a graveside committal service on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Cohocton.
