Obituary of Charles Thomas Beard

Lakeville – Charles Thomas Beard, 86 years of age passed away Thursday evening June 27, 2024 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Tom was born November 3, 1937 in Hornell the son of Charles H. and Jeannette (Britton) Beard. He grew up in Hornell and graduated from Hornell High School, and then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Ceramics Engineering from Alfred University. Tom and Betty Belanger wed on November 28, 1959 and together have celebrated over 64 years of marriage. Tom worked at a few different companies throughout the years including, Foster Wheeler, Kodak for over 37 years retiring as a Project Manager and Engineer; and then as a consultant for Frank Lill and Son in Webster and Victor. Throughout the years, Tom and Betty resided in several different areas including, Wayland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, and in 1978 settled on Conesus Lake in Lakeville. Tom loved his family, being an engineer, the lake, and really enjoyed boating. He was a Buffalo Bills fan, and a hunter, however his passion was golf. He loved his Labrador Retrievers throughout the years and performed several hunt tests with them. Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles and Jeannette Beard; and his sister Phyllis Bottomley. He is survived by his wife, Betty Beard of Lakeville; his children, Chuck (Susan) Beard of IA, David Beard of Penfield, Dan (Susan) Beard of Virginia Beach and Ken (Jill) Beard of Fairfax, VA; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jememiah) Rudden, Valarie (Pat) West, Chris (Kristen) Briley, Carson Ellen (Miranda Marcum) and Amanda Haven; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. Tom’s family and friends may call Thursday July 4, 2024 from 1-4pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tom on Friday July 5, 2024 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 Fremont St., Wayland.
