Obituary of Richard J. Pettinger

Canandaigua - Wayland - Richard J. Pettinger, formerly of Atlanta NY passed away at Ontario Center in Canandaigua N.Y. on September 25th, 2024, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Marjorie Pettinger, sister Doris Prior, sons Richard and David Pettinger and grandson Mathew Belanger. Richard is survived by his sisters, Carol Vincent of Alaska, and Gail Pettinger of Albany, by his brothers, John (Carole) Pettinger of Canandaigua, and Robert (Florence) Pettinger of Florida. He is also survived by three sons, Bill (Michelle) Pettinger of Perkinsville, NY, James (Jamie) Pettinger of Wayland, NY and John Pettinger of Livonia, NY, four grandchildren Kayley (Robert) Clark of Cuba, NY, Erica (Andy) Tidd of Plymouth, MA, Gregory (Sharon) Pettinger of Fairport NY, and Christina (Brad) Mehlenbacher of Ashland City, TN, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Richard was born in Peru, NY. He worked as a tool and die maker early on in his career at Kodak and retired from the Rochester Products Division of General Motors after many years of service. After he retired, he lived for several years in Muskogee, Oklahoma and then in Wayland and Atlanta, NY. He enjoyed hunting, camping, photography and listening to live music. Richard’s family and friends may call Thursday October 3, 2024 from 1-3pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY. Richard’s funeral service will be at the conclusion of calling hours at 3pm at the funeral home. A Private Burial will be held For Richard at the Wayland Village Cemetery in Wayland, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Richard can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester & Finger Lakes Region Chapter, 200 Meridian Centre Blvd, Suite 110, Rochester NY 14618.
