Obituary of Larry A. Harter

Wayland – Larry A. Harter, 75 years of age, passed away early Sunday morning September 29, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Larry was born June 3, 1949 in Brockport the son of Robert and Audrey (French) Harter. He grew up in Brockport and graduated from high school there in 1967. Larry then served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served from April 5, 1968 until his honorable discharge October 20, 1975. Larry worked for General Electric for a couple years and then began a career as a Machinist at Kodak that lasted thirty years. On June 10, 1978 Larry and Amy Golding were married in Irondequoit and have celebrated over 46 years of marriage. Larry and Amy moved to the Wayland area in 1985 where they have remained since. Larry was an avid hunter. Deer hunting was his passion and he also enjoyed fishing, shooting trap and trapping. He was an avid golfer as well with several years’ membership at Conesus Golf Club and he was a member of the Springwater Rod – n- Gun Club. Larry was pre-deceased by his parents, Robert and Audrey Harter; his daughter Jacqueline Harter and his brother in law, Walt Tsymbal. He is survived by his wife, Amy Harter of Wayland; his son Chris (Vanessa) Harter of Canandaigua; his brother Edward (Shelly) Harter of Lakeland, FL; his brothers and sisters in law, Dan (Susan) Golding of FL, Bonnie Tsymbal of Irondequoit, Wendy (Jack) Schilling of TX and Karen (Glenn) Grimsley of Rochester; along with several nieces and nephews. Larry’s family and friends are invited to call Friday October 4, 2024 from 1-4pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Larry’s funeral service along with military honors will be at the conclusion of calling hours at 4pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Larry A. Harter may be made to the Wayland-Cohocton Youth Shooting program in care of the Springwater Rod and Gun Club, 8355 Hudson Rd., Springwater, NY 14560.
