Obituary of Alma J. Nichols
Wallace / Avoca – Alma J. Nichols, 80 years of age, passed away Sunday November 3, 2024 at her home in Wallace.
Alma was born October 12, 1944 in Montour Falls, NY the daughter of Frederick K. and Ethel M. (Malone) Dick. She grew up in Watkins Glen and also resided in Elmira, Corning and settled in the Wallace / Avoca area several years ago.
Alma loved to “Thrift Shop!” She knew a deal when she saw it and would not let it pass her by. Her generosity was a gift as she would rather help those that needed it with her thrift store purchases than profit from them. Alma loved her animals; enjoyed canning tomatoes and she was well known for her famous Banana Bread.
Alma was pre-deceased by her parents, Frederick and Ethel Dick; her son Scott Clancy; her granddaughter Toshina and her grandson, Michael; along with many siblings. She is survived by her children, Edward Clancy (Tracie Butler) of Avoca, Marlida (Jerry) Buckley of Corning, Joanna Cotton of Montour Falls and Frederick Nichols of Groveland; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; her sisters Margaret (John) Tinker of Watkins Glen and Jenny Clark of FL; along with many nieces and nephews.
Alma’s family and friends will celebrate her life privately and at a time that is convenient for them.
