Obituary of Gregory L. Sick
Cohocton – Gregory “Haney” L. Sick, 52 years of age, passed away early Thursday morning, December 31st, 2015.
Haney was born April 19th, 1963 in Dansville the son of Leverne and Doris (Zeh) Sick. He grew up in Cohocton, was a 1981 graduate of Cohocton Central School and has remained a resident of Cohocton ever since. Haney and Jody Moir were married September 15th, 1990 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cohocton. Together they have celebrated over 25 years of marriage. They have raised two daughters, Jenna and Shelby. Haney has been employed at the Gunlocke Company for many years, where he was often referred to as the “social director.”
Haney was very community oriented. He was an active member for years within the Cohocton Lions Club. He could be found helping other organizations, such as the Historical Society and the Sons of American Legion. Haney loved cooking and catering for groups, friends and family. He was best known for his socializing. You could always count on him to talk and make you smile. Haney will be missed by all his family and friends.
Haney was pre-deceased by his father, Leverne Sick; and his sister, Pamela Smith. He is survived by his wife, Jody Sick of Cohocton; his two daughters, Jenna and Shelby Sick, both of Cohocton; his mother, Doris Sick of Cohocton; his mother-in-law, Verna Hadley of Wayland; his father-in-law Wendel Moir of NC; his siblings, Douglas (Mary) Sick of Cohocton, Jeffrey (Letitia) DeVoesick of Fairport and Michele Sick of Victor; his sisters-in-law, Jill (Jim) McCart of Cohocton and Joyce (Craig) Nisbet of Wayland; along with many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Haney’s family and friends may call Sunday from 12:00-3:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY. His funeral service will be Monday at 11:00am at the funeral home. Committal and internment will take place private and at the convenience of his family. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572 or to the Cohocton Lions Club, PO Box 349, Cohocton, NY 14826.
