Obituary of Susan C. (Coates) Sweet

Springwater/Wayland – Susan C. (Coates) Sweet, 50 years of age, unexpectedly passed away Friday November 14, 2014 at her home on Conesus Lake. Sue was born July 25th, 1964 in Wayland, the daughter of Justin “Sonny” and Lorna (Perkins) Coates. She grew up in Springwater and throughout her life she resided in many different areas including, Rush, Dansville, Rochester and Conesus Lake. She was a 1982 graduate of Wayland Central School and a graduate of the Finger Lakes Community College with a degree in Accounting. Her employment career has mostly been spent in the restaurant business. Currently she was employed as a manager at Dunkin Donuts in Rochester and part-time at the Beachcomber. For many years, Sue worked at the Olive Garden in Rochester. She was a hard worker and enjoyed working two jobs for most of her life. Sue enjoyed playing softball for many years in the local leagues and she loved to bake. Cakes, cookies, candy and all kinds of different things for baskets were her specialty. Sue took great pleasure in spoiling her nieces and nephews and would often have them look at the wonderful view of Conesus Lake from her deck. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Sue was pre-deceased by her father, Justin “Sonny” Coates in 2001. She is survived by her mother Lorna (Larry) Eddy of Wayland; her siblings, David (Mary) Coates of Canandaigua, Jerry Coates of Lima, Jennifer (Jim) Schultz of Newfane and Jason (Ameigh) Coates of Springwater; her nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Chrissy and Michele Schultz, Alexandra and Thomas Coates, and Cheyenne Mickle; her step-sisters, Sheryl (Keith) Pragle of Cohocton and Chris Cooley (Don Schrader) of Caledonia; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Sue’s family and friends may call Wednesday from 1:00 – 3:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00am at the funeral home with Reverend David Hotchkiss officiating. Committal prayers and internment will take place immediately following at Oakridge Cemetery in S. Livonia. Memorial contributions in Sue Sweet’s memory may be made to the Rochester School for the Deaf, 1545 St Paul St, Rochester, NY 14621 or to the Special Olympics NY Genesse Region, 1 Grove St Ste 216, Pittsford, NY 14534.
