Obituary of Jason E. Coates

Springwater – Jason “Coatesy” E. Coates, 41 years of age, passed away Thursday morning, November 27, 2014. Jason was born January 23rd, 1973 in Dansville the son of Justin “Sonny” and Lorna (Perkins) Coates. Jason grew up in Springwater and remained a resident of that area his entire life. Jason was a 1992 graduate of Wayland Central School and attended college at FLCC. Jason and Ameigh Tokarz were married June 12th, 1999 at the Beachcomber and together have celebrated over 15 years of marriage. He was an accomplished and experienced mason, employed by the F.G. Rayburn Masonry Company in Canandaigua as a foreman. Jason was very good at what he did and therefore was often working either for his employer or on the side for his friends and family. Throughout his life he was involved with a couple of organizations, the Springwater Sons of American Legion and the Springwater Rod-n-Gun Club. Jason’s hobbies were many as he was an avid deer hunter; loved fishing, especially ice fishing; riding dirt bikes and four wheelers; and just about anything outside. He spent a lot of time doing the things he loved with his children and friends. Jason had a great sense of humor and a smile that would not be forgotten. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Jason was pre-deceased by his father, Justin “Sonny” Coates; and his sister Susan Coates Sweet. He is survived by his wife Ameigh of Springwater; his children, Alexandra, Thomas and Kyle; his mother, Lorna (Larry) Eddy of Wayland; his father-in-law, Richard Tokarz (Verna Zurlick) of Bath; his mother-in-law, Yolanda Holmes of Springwater; his siblings, David (Mary) Coates of Canandaigua, Jerry Coates of Lima and Jennifer (Jim) Schultz of Newfane, NY; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela (Michael) Costello of Charlotte, NC, Melissa Guild of Watkins Glen and Carl (Michelle) Guild of Watkins Glen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many close friends that have spent a lot of time together over the years. Jason’s family and friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 – 3:00pm and 5:00 – 8:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Jason’s funeral service will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11:00am at the funeral home with the Reverend Jamie Stevens officiating. Internment will take place at a later date and at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions in Jason E. Coates’s memory may be made to the Rochester School for the Deaf, 1545 St Paul St, Rochester, NY 14621.
